2 Purvis men jailed on felony drug charges

LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A pair of Purvis men are behind bars and facing felony drug charges after a tip from the community led Lamar County deputies to the scene of the crime.

Ernest Hartfield Jr., 33, was arrested Thursday and charged with one felony count of sale of a controlled substance. His bond was set at $25,000, and he remains in custody at the Lamar County Jail.

On Wednesday, narcotics officers arrested Milton Whiddon, 52, was arrested and charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver meth. His bond was set at $25,000, and he remains in custody at the Lamar County Jail.

“Both of the guys were arrested in Purvis, and it came from a tip in the community that led us to them,” said Lamar County Sheriff Danny Rigel.

Rigel stressed the importance of community help and outreach to the department and said how it helps build cases and keep the county safe.
