Sheriff: Warrant issued for suspect who ate drugs at traffic stop

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department. 

On Tuesday, the Jones County Sheriff’s Deputies conducted a routine traffic stop on Lake Drive near the intersection of Paulding Road. 

Due to apparent circumstances, an on-site search was deemed necessary. 

The driver was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and taken into custody. 

The passenger, identified as Daniel Perry, 31 of Sandersville, informed deputies that he had swallowed some narcotics, which included heroin, molly and a small amount of high grade marijuana. 

An ambulance was called to the scene and Perry was transported to a local hospital.  Without consent or the knowledge of the hospital staff, Perry left the facility. 

A felony arrest warrant has been issued for Perry.

    Southern Miss baseball will be missing four key contributors when the its season opens against Mississippi State on February 16. Hayden Roberts, Taylor Braley, Kirk McCarty and Dylan Burdeaux wrapped up their first minor league seasons in the fall. Roberts, a 34th round MLB draftee of the Colorado Rockies, struck out 45 batters in 21 games with the Grand Junction Rockies.
