LPD conducts gun sting, makes one arrest

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

This is a news release from the Laurel Police Department

On Thursday at approximately 2:30 p.m. Officers of the Laurel Police Departments CID, Narcotics and SOT conducted a sting operation that resulted in the arrest of Eduardo Cooley. 

Cooley faces one count of possession of a stolen firearm and one count of convicted felon in possession of a firearm. 

The firearm, an M-1 carbine rifle, had been reported stolen in a burglary in Jasper County. 

Cooley also faces a bond revocation hearing as he is out on bond for a felony charge from Jasper County.

SOT Officer Layne Bounds is the lead in the case. 

The Laurel Police Department would like to thank the citizens that provided information that aided in this case and would like to encourage others to follow suit to LPD or Crime Stoppers at 601-428-STOP.
