Wanted Kentucky woman taken into custody in Laurel

LAUREL, MS (WDAM) -

On Friday around 10 p.m. a woman was arrested and taken into custody for several misdemeanor charges. 

Raeko Nowell was arrested during a drivers' license checkpoint on Hwy 84 East in Laurel. 

When Laurel police investigated, it was revealed that Nowell was wanted out of Owensboro, Kentucky, for the charge of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forgery in the first degree. 

Nowell is currently housed in the Jones County Jail awaiting extradition.
