JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - On Thursday, a routine traffic stop on Highway 84 West ended in arrest when Mea Knight, 34 of Taylorsville and Vincent Newell, 21 of Laurel, were found to be in possession of methamphetamines.
When the pair was pulled over, deputies determined cause for a search of the vehicle.
A felony amount of methamphetamines was discovered and believed to be available for distribution, according to a news release from the Jones County Sheriff's Department.
The onsite investigation revealed a need for a search warrant to be issued for Knight's residence.
Narcotics Investigators discovered an additional supply of methamphetamine in the home.
This discovery is a result of an on going investigation into the trafficking of meth in the county, according to the release.
Both individuals taken into custody are believed to be responsible for distributing narcotics throughout Jones County. Investigators also obtained information through the search warrant that will identify additional individuals involved in drug activity in the area.
More arrests are pending.
Knight has been charged with possession of methamphetamines with intent to distribute and possession of methamphetamines.
Newell has been charged with possession of methamphetamines with Intent to distribute.
Their initial appearances are scheduled for 2:30 p.m. at Justice Court on Friday.
