Forrest County man jailed for domestic aggravated assault

Cody Sanford Cody Sanford
FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

A Forrest County man is behind and facing aggravated domestic violence charges.

Cody Sanford, 28, was arrested Wednesday night after Forrest County Deputies responded to a fight at a residence in the Dixie Community.

“Sanford allegedly threw his wife, the victim, to the ground and started choking her,” said Forrest County Investigator Alyssa Chandlee.

Chandlee said that Sanford locked himself in a room with a knife and deputies were able to talk him out safely.

“The victim received fairly significant injuries to her neck, and there were visible marks,” said Chandlee.

Investigators added that alcohol could have played a factor in the incident.

Sanford is set to make his initial appearance Friday in a Forrest County Court.
