JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Jones County Circuit Clerk Bart Gavin said Tuesday's voter turnout for the primary election is slower than usual. He said absentee votes are also down compared to the number a few years ago.
"We had a total of 740 people vote absentee which is down significantly from what we usually have," Gavin said. "For example, in the 2012 Presidential Election we had 2,300 absentees, so vote totals are down."
A voting precinct in Ellisville said turnout has been steady throughout the day. In Forrest County, voter turnout has also been reported to be low.
