FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - During Monday's Forrest County Board of Supervisor's meeting, the board adopted a resolution declaring intent to authorize and approve a loan on behalf of the Hattiesburg-Laurel regional airport for improvements at the facility.
Board president David Hogan hopes it will promote commerce and economic growth.
"We're also building an additional hangar for, it's my understanding, a brand new 20 passenger jet and a turbo-propped helicopter that is a privately owned aircrafts," said Hogan. "We are very proud of the progress that Mr Heanue and the board out at the airport has made. It's been a great economic driver for us both commercially and privately."
That $230,000 loan will come from the Mississippi Development Authority, and will be paid back through those lease payments of those hangars. It should be no cost to the taxpayers whatsoever.
"They are already committed," said Hogan, referring to the leasing of the hangars.
