LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - The city of Laurel gathered at the Life Church for the Visions of Hope bike ride benefiting Laurel Police officer Adam Cochran.

The officer, who has served the community for eight years, was diagnosed with the rare eye disease Keratoconus

Around 100 bikes gathered at the church and registered to ride while Cochran rode along with in a Jones County sheriff's police vehicle.

Cochran recently returned from Ontario, Canada, where he had surgery for the disease. Cochran had to receive treatment out of the country because the FDA has not regulated the procedure in the United States.

Cochran is expected to return to work in a few months.
