Duo sought for passing counterfeit checks

Taylorsville, MS (WDAM) -

Authorities are searching for two men who have been passing counterfeit payroll checks at local grocery stores.

According to Taylorsville Police Department, Officer Brad White, two black males have been passing fake checks from Sanderson Farms, Tyson Foods and Georgia Pacific at locations in Taylorsville, Magee and around Jones County.

“One of the suspects is using the name Joe Mac Williams III on the payroll checks,” said White. “He has produced an Alabama driver’s license which appears to be fake as well.”

He is described as a tall slender black male late 20s to early 30s.

One suspect has been confirmed as Courtney Maurice Russell, according to Officer Brad White. 

The pair has been reported traveling in a maroon early 2000s model Ford Expedition maroon with gold or brown stripe at the bottom.

Taylorsville and Magee Police have active warrants at this time for the two suspects. Please contact Taylorsville Police at 601-785-6622 or Magee Police 601-849-2366.
