(The following is a press release from the City of Hattiesburg.)

Hattiesburg-The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has selected City of Hattiesburg Mayor, Johnny DuPree, as Vice-Chair of its Small Community Advisory Subcommittee where he will serve until June 30, 2016.

Last year, Mayor DuPree was selected to assist the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) in developing a stronger partnership with local governments and building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs. DuPree will serve in this capacity until June 30, 2017.

The agency said Mayor DuPree's "experience and perspective are particularly valuable to EPA as we explore ways in which national policy might affect state and local governments."

The LGAC is charted under the Federal Advisory Committee Act, which regulates and governs its operation, including public participation and access to documents. For more information, contact City of Hattiesburg Public Relations Spokeswoman Chinika Hughes at 601.545.4508.
