Hattiesburg-The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has selected City of Hattiesburg Mayor, Johnny DuPree, as Vice-Chair of its Small Community Advisory Subcommittee where he will serve until June 30, 2016.
Last year, Mayor DuPree was selected to assist the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Local Government Advisory Committee (LGAC) in developing a stronger partnership with local governments and building state and local capacity to deliver environmental services and programs. DuPree will serve in this capacity until June 30, 2017.
The agency said Mayor DuPree’s “experience and perspective are particularly valuable to EPA as we explore ways in which national policy might affect state and local governments.”

Multiple law enforcement agencies are on scene of a shooting at the Sanderson Farm plant in Collins where one person was shot. According to Collins Police Chief Joey Ponder, the shooting happened inside the facility around 4 p.m. The factory was closed down while the scene was made secure according to Ponder.
