Two Laurel residents were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop in Sandersville.

According to Sandersville police officers, Marty Dearman, 33, and Mona Jackson, 48, were coming from the Bok Homa Casino when they were pulled over.

During the traffic stop, officers recognized the two from prior drug arrests.  After a search of the vehicle, approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine, scales and other paraphernalia were recovered.

Officers said the two admitted to using the drug. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Jones County jail.

The two arrested are facing a $5,000 bond. Dearman has a hold with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

The campus of William Carey was calm as the clock struck midnight and the date turned to January 21, 2017. Then-freshman soccer player Taylor Gautreaux turned in at about 1 a.m. She would be awoken two hours later to the sounds of a violent tornado just outside her dorm room wall.
