Traffic stop leads to methamphetamine arrests in Sandersville

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) -

Two Laurel residents were arrested Sunday after a traffic stop in Sandersville.

According to Sandersville police officers, Marty Dearman, 33, and Mona Jackson, 48, were coming from the Bok Homa Casino when they were pulled over.

During the traffic stop, officers recognized the two from prior drug arrests.  After a search of the vehicle, approximately 4 grams of methamphetamine, scales and other paraphernalia were recovered.

Officers said the two admitted to using the drug. Both were charged with possession of methamphetamine and taken to the Jones County jail.

The two arrested are facing a $5,000 bond. Dearman has a hold with the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

    The City of Hattiesburg is urging motorists to use caution Thursday morning in various areas of the city due to utility work. Pearl River Valley Electric began work on switching out a transformer at 6 a.m.  So, traffic lights at US 98 and Hwy 11, US 98 and Lake Forgetful and US 98 and Cross Creek Parkway are expected to experience some downtime .  The Hattiesburg Police Department will be directing traffic in those areas to offer support in the event downtime does occur.&n...More >>
