USM's Thomas set for another big season

As the Southern Miss football team continues to prepare for the 2015 season, the Golden Eagles look for big things out of one of their biggest scoring threats from last season in senior wide receiver Michael Thomas.

Thomas led the black and gold in receiving yardage and receiving touchdowns in 2014 with 592 yards and five touchdowns. He also was the leading kickoff returner with 26 returns for 625 yards and a touchdown. Head Coach Todd Monken hopes Thomas will continue to be a major contributor in 2015. "He's a weapon for us. We've got to continue to find ways to get him the ball, and he's only gotten better. He loves to play and loves to work at it."

Thomas says he just has to keep working hard and continue to try to make himself the best he can be. "I've just got to continue to play my game, continue to be relaxed, be patient, and just play."

Southern Miss opens the football season September 5th at home as the Golden Eagles host in-state rival Mississippi State.
