The Salvation Army of Laurel hosted a meet and greet Thursday for the new captains.

Several city officials, representatives and advisory board members stopped by the church to meet Captains Cristy and Bert Lynd.

The couple comes from Anniston, Alabama. During their time in Laurel they said they will try to figure out the needs of the community and help the people as much as they can.

“We are really excited to be here in Laurel it seems like a nice community,” said Captain Bert Lynd. “We were told a little bit about it before we arrived, but it's meeting our expectations and then some. It's a very nice area to be in.”

The Lynd’s have replaced the Connelly’s, who are now at the Hattiesburg location.
