FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A pair of teens are behind bars in connection to a weekend vandalism spree in south Forrest County.
Around 9:30 Sunday morning Forrest County deputies responded to the Carnes Mini Storage for a report of vandalism.
"The deputies found spray painting on the individual units and the building as well," said Forrest County Sheriff's Department investigator Nick Calico.
Deputies took to the streets and canvassed the neighborhoods where they discovered more vandalism scenes.
"Deputies were able to track that to the Carnes Volunteer Fire Department where it was also vandalized with spray paint," said Calico.
Calico said officers then began going to residents in the community and received tips about a vehicle that was seen in the area.
"Deputies went to a house that the vehicle was located at and made contact with one male juvenile who admitted to the vandalism, and he stated he was with someone else," said Calico. "Deputies then went and picked up the second male juvenile."
They were both taken to the Forrest County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with one count of malicious mischief and one count of destruction of county property. The names of the two are not being released because they are juveniles.
Calico stated that the two arrested were both from the Carnes area, and that the vandalism occurred Saturday night into Sunday morning.
"At this point we do not have a total number, each one of those cases is an individual victim, but early indications show it is at least in the 20s, as far as vandalism to mailboxes, trash cans and personal property," said Calico.
Calico said the investigation is ongoing, and could lead to other arrests.
