MIZE, MS (WDAM) - - Thousands of people will be visiting Mize City Park this weekend to enjoy all-you-can-eat portions of Mississippi's favorite fruit.
The 37th annual State Watermelon Festival begins at 4 o'clock Friday afternoon with plenty of watermelon and lots of arts and crafts.
Friday night, country artist Daryle Singletary will perform.
Saturday, the event continues with "biggest watermelon" and "seed-spitting" contests and the group "Restless Heart" will wrap things up that night.
As always, it's all being done to raise money for the Mize Volunteer Fire Dept.
