IRVING, Texas – Conference USA released its 2015 preseason media poll Wednesday morning with Southern Miss projected to finish fourth in the league's West Division this season. The vote was conducted by a panel of media members that cover C-USA schools.
WKU earned selection by the media to win the 2015 East Division title, while Louisiana Tech was chosen to repeat as West Division champions.
Following Louisiana Tech in the West Division, Rice gained second, followed by UTEP, the Golden Eagles, North Texas and UTSA.
In the East, Marshall got tabbed by the media to finish second, ahead of Middle Tennessee, Florida Atlantic, FIU, Old Dominion and Charlotte in that order.
The Golden Eagles open the regular season Saturday, Sept. 5, when they entertain in-state foe Mississippi State for the first time at Carlisle-Faulkner Field at M.M. Roberts Stadium since 1989. The 11th annual Conference USA Football Championship Game, pitting the champions of the East and West Divisions, will be held Saturday, Dec. 5. The 2015 C-USA Football season kicks off Thursday, Sept. 3.
