Shelby training brigade has new commander

CAMP SHELBY, MS (WDAM) - An Army brigade that specializes in training National Guard and Army Reserve units at Camp Shelby has a new commander.

Col. Brandon Robbins assumed command of the 177th Combined Arms Training Brigade during a ceremony at the post Wednesday morning.

Robbins replaces Col. William Chlebowski, who led the unit for the last two years.

"This is only the third time I've taken command, so the words don't come natural to you, because it is definitely an honor and it is a privilege to be able to lead soldiers," said Robbins.

"The Hattiesburg community is probably the most welcoming place I've been throughout my career and I've lived in 14 different places," said Chlebowski. "So, we absolutely love being here in Mississippi and part of the community."

Chlebowski is heading to a new Army assignment in Virginia.

Robbins previously served as operations officer for the Army's 101st Air Assault Division at Ft. Campbell, Ky.
