Dozier homers in first ever All-Star Game plate appearance
Former Southern Miss star shortstop Brian Dozier got a late call up to represent the American League in Tuesday night's Major League Baseball All-Star Game, and the Minnesota Twins second baseman did not disappoint.
Dozier did not start the game, but he was called upon as a substitute in the eighth inning. In his first ever plate appearance in an All-Star game, Dozier hit a solo home run off of National League pitcher Mark Melancon.
The former Golden Eagle becomes just the 16th player in Major League history to homer in his first all-star at bat.
