Hattiesburg police arrest robbery suspect

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg man is behind bars in connection with a pair of afternoon robbery attempts that occurred in the Hub City.

Hattiesburg police responded to an armed robbery attempt just before 3 p.m. at 2033 Oak Grove Road, where the attempted to rob a victim in the parking lot.

“While officers were responding to the call they spotted a suspect fitting the description entering Trustmark Bank at 3122 Hardy Street where he attempted to rob them,” said Hattiesburg Police Lt. Jon Traxler.

According to Traxler, Tyree Ross, of Hattiesburg was taken into custody at the bank, and the vehicle driven by Ross was towed from the scene.

“The vehicle Ross was driving was reported stolen from Biloxi,” said Traxler.

Ross will be housed at the Forrest County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
