A Hattiesburg man was killed Monday night walking along U.S. 49 in the Hub City.
According to police, Charlie Harris, 67, was walking north on U.S. 49 around 9 p.m. when he was struck by a vehicle near the J.M. Tatum Road intersection.
The motorists did stop at the scene, no arrests were made, and no charges were filed according to police.
According to Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem, Harris was pronounced dead at 10:03 p.m. at Forrest General Hospital.
Harris was in court Monday afternoon and appeared before Judge Gaye-Polk Payton, he was released from the jail later that evening.
