Candidate meet and greet set for Thursday in Hattiesburg

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Voters will have the opportunity to meet the folks that will be on their ballots for the August 4 primary, thanks to the Hattiesburg Council of Neighborhoods.

The council is hosting a meet-and-greet for both local legislators and statewide candidates Thursday, July 9 at 7 p.m. at the Jackie Dole Sherrill Community Center in downtown Hattiesburg.

Neighborhood Council President Linda Walters said state Treasurer Lynn Fitch, who is running for re-election will be among the statewide candidates, and Public Service Commissioner candidate for the Southern District Tom Blanton, who just won a lawsuit against Mississippi Power, will also be there.

Walters said candidates, totaling around 30, will give stump speeches and then take questions from the crowd.
