COVINGTON COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - Over 50 people gathered at the Covington County Courthouse on Tuesday for the dedication ceremony of the Mack Jordan Memorial Highway.
As stated in House Bill number 119 of the 2015 regular session, the segment of US Highway 84 in Covington County starts at its intersection with Salem school Road and Mississippi Highway 588, then extends east to its intersection with Mississippi Highway 37.
MDOT will erect and maintain the appropriate signs along the highway.
Jordan was an Army veteran who was killed in action while saving his fellow soldiers in combat during the Korean War.
He died on November 15, 1951.
As stated at the ceremony, Jordan was the only known recipient of the Metal of Honor in Covington County.
