HATTIESBURG, Miss. – Southern Miss catcher Chuckie Robinson, who is playing his summer baseball with the Ocean State Waves, earned the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) Player of the Week, today, after leading his team to four victories last week.
The Danville, Ill., native, finished the week 9-for-14 at the plate, good for a league-high .643 batting average over the four games. In those contests, he collected a pair of doubles, four home runs and nine RBI to go along with five runs and two walks.
For the summer, Robinson has posted a .317 batting average with four doubles, six home runs and 14 RBI. His home run total ranks second in the NECBL, behind only his Ocean State and Golden Eagle teammate, Tim lynch, who has posted seven on the summer. Robinson will be a junior during the 2016 season.
Ocean State, which is located in Kingstown, R.I., has won nine of its last 10 games to move within a game of the South Division lead with a 13-7 record. Two other Golden Eagles, Dylan Burdeaux and Nick Dawson, player for the Waves.
