Jones County man arrested for statutory rape

JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A Jones County man has been charged with three counts of statutory rape.

According to the Jones County Sheriff's Department, on Friday at approximately 7:15 a.m., a female filed a report claiming she discovered her boyfriend having sexual intercourse with her 7-year-old daughter.

Deputies were then dispatched to the 100 block of Warsaw Camp Loop where Luis Alvarado, 24, shared a residence with the victim and her mother.  He was arrested and taken to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.

The sheriff's department said the victim was taken by personal vehicle to the ER of South Central Regional Medical Center where a rape kit was used.

The following day, investigators interviewed Alvarado, at which time he confessed to the sexual assault.  Investigators said during the interview process, Alvarado additionally admitted to two other sexual encounters with the child in the past year.

Alvarado is scheduled to appear before Judge David Lyons at Jones County Justice Court Monday for his bond hearing.
