Perry County man charged for manufacturing marijuana

PERRY COUNTY, MS (WDAM) -

The Perry County Sheriff’s Department along with 12th Judicial Task Force agents, the Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and the Jones County Sheriff’s Department seized 16 marijuana plants Wednesday.

According to the Perry County Sheriff’s Department, the estimated 5 foot tall plants were found in a garden spot area at a home located off of Pumping Station Road.

Homeowner, Charles Loup, 61 of the Runnelstown Community was arrested at the scene. He was charged with manufacturing a controlled substance.

"We appreciate all the co-operation we have with our adjoining counties and other agencies,” Perry County Sheriff Jimmy Dale Smith said. “Teamwork is what helps take drugs off the streets and helps protect our citizens. These guys are doing a great job and I for one am glad to have them assisting us here in Perry County."

Loup’s bond was set Thursday morning at $35,000.

A total of 53 marijuana plants have been seized in Perry County this week. On Monday, 37 plants were seized from a home located off Old River Road.
