HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

The man allegedly caught on camera trying to break into a Hattiesburg pawn shop has been arrested. Desmond Moore, 24 of Hattiesburg was taken into custody by police early Friday morning.  

He is accused of trying to break into American Pawn and Jewelry on W. Pine Street. Shop owner Robert Ulmer said security camera video showed a man throwing concrete blocks into the front doors of his shop around 3:30 a.m.Thursday. 

The glass doors cracked, but they did not shatter. After a few minutes, the suspect gave up and walked away.

Ulmer said about $500 in damage was done to the store.

Ulmer said police officers told him several people recognized Moore as the man in the security video.
