Winn-Dixie to donate all July 4 profits to Wounded Warrior Project

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A major grocery company with many locations in the Pine Belt is helping wounded servicemen and women in a big way this Independence Day.

Southeastern Grocers, the parent company of Winn-Dixie, Harveys and BI-LO, is donating all profits from Fourth of July sales to the Wounded Warrior Project.

That organization provides programs and services for injured service members.

"Memorial Day, we remember those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, on Veterans' Day, we thank those who gave their service, but this 4th of July, this Independence Day, it's really important to us that we do something to thank those who keep us independent and to help make them more independent again," said Kate Speakes, Mississippi District Director for Winn-Dixie.

Southeastern Grocers has nearly 800 stores in eight southern states. All locations will be participating on July 4.
