JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - On Monday during a driver's license checkpoint on Magnolia Road, Jones County Deputies encountered a vehicle with two males and one female.
The driver, Vincent Strickland, 39 of Laurel, had a suspended driver's license. While the deputy was speaking with him, they noticed Strickland and the passengers were acting nervous.
After receiving verbal consent from the vehicle's owner, Brandy Pates, 42 of Sandersville, the vehicle was searched.
Spice was found on the other passenger, Sidney Clarke, 23 of Sandersville. Also found in Pates' purse was paraphernalia with meth residue. In the vehicle, deputies discovered two more bags of Spice and meth.
All three were taken into custody and transported to the Jones County Adult Detention Center.
Clarke is charged with possession of methamphetamine and possession of Spice. His bond has been set at $10,000. Strickland and Pates have been released pending grand jury action.
During the same checkpoint, deputies observed a vehicle pulling into a driveway trying to avoid the stop.
When deputies went to the location, a brief onsite investigation found Ashley Jernigan, 33 of Laurel, to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Jernigan was taken into custody.
She is charged with possession of methamphetamine and her bond has been set at $5,000.
