Niagara bottled water voluntarily recalled due to E. coli

RICHMOND, VA (WWBT) -

Niagara Bottling is voluntarily recalling bottled water sold under several brand names after discovering one of its spring sources was contaminated with E. coli.

Niagara found the dangerous bacteria in the water supply back on June 10th. The company also bottles water for other brands, including 7-Eleven. I checked in with several 7-Eleven stores in the area, and they say they don't have any of the contaminated water in their stores.

Lowe's also sells Niagara water in our area. A spokesperson tells me there were three Lowe's stores with the contaminated water, but none of them were located in the Richmond market.

The brands affected are:

• Acadia

• Best Yet

• Nature's Place

• Shaws

• Acme

• 7-Eleven

• Pricerite

• Shoprite

• Big Y

• Niagara

• Superchill

• Western Beef Blue

• Morning Fresh

• Wegman's

Niagara says they "have not received any complaints of injury or illness of any kind" and have stopped using the source because it "did not notify us in a timely manner." Bacteria were found in the water supply on June 10.

To determine if your product is affected, look at the code on the bottle - bottles recalled start with the letter A (Allentown) or F (Hamburg), and were manufactured between June 10 to June 18. The first digit after the letter indicates the number of the production line. The next two numbers indicate the day, then the month in letters, the year, and then the time, based on a 24-hour clock.

Example: A610JUN15 2000

(Allentown line 6, manufactured on June 10, 2015 at 8pm)
