'End of Watch Ride' honors fallen officers Deen and Tate

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Hundreds of motorcycle riders from across the Pine Belt gathered Saturday morning to honor two Hattiesburg police officers who were killed in the line of duty last month.

Nearly 500 riders participated in an event called the End of Watch Ride.

It was a 70-mile, round-trip journey through three counties to raise money for the families of Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate, two HPD officers who were shot to death on May 9 in east Hattiesburg during a routine traffic stop.

"I wanted to come out and honor the two officers who lost their lives and ride with all the people on our bikes today to honor them," said Joe McMurry, of Petal.

"We came out to support the families of the fallen officers and let them know that we love them," said Helen Moses, a ride participant from Columbia.

"This is what we do, we raise money to help families and friends and just pray for them and be here for them," said Charles Phillips, another rider from Laurel.

The event began and ended at Hattiesburg Cycles.
