FORREST COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A man remains hospitalized after a stabbing and authorities are searching for three suspects in Forrest County.
Around 12:30 Thursday, Forrest County Deputies responded to the scene of a stabbing at a trailer park off Lakeshore Drive.
"When deputies got on scene they found a Hispanic male victim suffering from appeared to be multiple stab wounds," said Forrest County Sheriff Department Investigator Nick Calico.
The victim was taken from the scene by ambulance to Forrest General Hospital, where is being treated for multiple stab wounds to the upper torso.
Shortly after deputies arrived, witnesses said there were three black males that ran from the home and jumped a fence into a wooded area.
Forrest County Deputies called for assistance and a K9 unit from the Lamar County Sheriff's Department, who took to the woods immediately.
Officers searched the woods across Glendale Avenue and made their way back to a lake, however lost a scent trail in the process.
A witness at the scene said his day was interrupted by the commotion.
"I was inside watching Charlotte's Web and I heard dogs barking roof, roof everywhere," said Ricardo Tepec. "There was screaming help, help and that's when I went back in the house, got the phone and I dialed 911."
Tepec said he didn't get to close to the scene because of what he saw.
"He opened the door and he was covered in blood so I just had to...it was chills everywhere," said Tepec.
Tepec said he helped one of the officers translate.
"I went up in there, and he said it was three black males and they just attacked him," said Tepec.
According to Calico, investigators have not had a chance to speak with the victim, due to him being treated for his injuries.
"Right now, we don't really know if we have one or three suspects, witnesses are saying three, but we won't really know until we can interview the victim and connect the dots," said Calico.
Calico said the motive of the stabbing is unclear, whether it's a robbery attempt, or something else, they will not know until more information is gathered.
"Forrest County residents should be aware of their surroundings and be alert, if you see something suspicious or out of the ordinary, or know something about the crime, please give us a call," said Calico.
