HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Lots of thirsty folks were in downtown Hattiesburg Saturday for an event showcasing and celebrating locally-brewed beers.
The 3rd annual Craft Beer Festival at the historic Train Depot attracted hundreds of visitors from inside and outside Mississippi and featured about 100 beers from 30 brewers.
It also had plenty of food and live entertainment.
The festival was presented by the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Assn.
"The craft brewing industry is such a booming industry right now and I just think we're so lucky to have it," said Andrea Saffle, executive director of the Historic Hattiesburg Downtown Assn. "We're lucky to have it in downtown, but we're lucky to have it in Hattiesburg and it's continuing to grow," she said.
"The beer is the best," said Justo Chalaire, of New Orleans, one of those attending the festival. "All of these breweries are unbelievable, under one roof and partly outside and I love it," he said.
"I like drinking craft beers and this is a nice event to come to try different beers from the region," said John Foley, another festival visitor from New Orleans.
The event was held in conjunction with the ongoing FestivalSouth.
