ELLISVILLE, MS (WDAM) - It's the first week of June and that means it's time for Kids College Summer Camp at Jones County Junior College.
"It's a way to get the community involved and get children involved and also to help them see the college environment," said Kids College coordinator Missie Meeks.
More than 130 first through sixth grade students registered for this year's camp. Students are exposed to different subjects such as physical education, physical science and zoology.
"They're doing a lot of dissecting," said Meeks.
Students also get a chance to take part in the Plants Palooza class.
"We have them learning about the plant cell, learning about the parts of the plant, how it grows, how humans and plants are alike and different," said Meeks.
One class also involves food.
"We have kid's cuisine where they're baking and learning to make different foods from different countries," said Meeks.
This is the ninth year JCJC has hosted Kids College. The camp will end Friday.
