Hattiesburg man charged with rape

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg man is behind bars and facing a rape charge stemming from a May incident in the Hub City.

Kinis Ruffin, 39, was arrested Friday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Hattiesburg and booked into the Forrest County Jail.

According to Hattiesburg Police Department Lt. Jon Traxler, Ruffin was allegedly involved in an incident that occurred in the 300 block of Bowling Street in Hattiesburg on May 3rd.

Investigators added that according to the victim, Ruffin allegedly had a weapon and raped her.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Ruffin is currently being housed at the Forrest County Jail where he is awaiting his initial appearance.
