HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Former U.S. congressman Ronnie Shows received a strange photo from his nephew Timmy Conklin.

Conklin's deer camera caught the image of a doe and her fawn, who he says eat outside his home every night.

The doe however, had a strange black ring around her.

"It is a metal snare, and it is rusting there right behind her shoulders,"said Shows."This animal can be saved with a tranquilizer gun."

According Jim Walker, spokesman for Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, a crew is going to attempt to tranquilize the deer and remove the wire Wednesday night.

"There is always risk involved, and it is a long shot," said Walker. "But we are going to try and help her."

According to Conklin, if the team can't help her, they are afraid she will succumb to her injuries.

"I don't see her living to the Fall if we don't help her," said Conklin.
