JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Jones County Drug Court held open house on Friday in Ellisville.
The event was held to showcase to the public, community leaders and political officials the success and importance of the program to Jones County.
Drug Court gives first time offenders a chance for rehabilitation instead of going to jail. Participants are regularly and randomly tested for drug use while in the program.
For a minimum term of one year, participants are:

*Held accountable by the Drug Court Judge for meeting their obligations to the court, society, themselves and their friends.
*Regularly and randomly tested for drug use.
*Required to appear in court frequently so that the judge may review their progress and reward the for doing well or sanctioned when they do not live up to their obligations.
The 18th Judicial District Jones County Drug Court program was established by order of Judge Billy Joe Landrum back in 2012 and currently has 93 participants.
