HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) -

A Hattiesburg man is behind bars and facing charges for failing to register as a sex offender in Forrest County.

Roddrick Hibbler, 29, was arrested Thursday by members of the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Hattiesburg.

Hibbler made his initial appearance Friday morning where his bond was set at $10,000.

According to investigators this is not the first time he has failed to register and has been using false addresses to report to authorities.

Hibbler is also facing a multi-count indictment filed in May 2015, for felony eluding law enforcement officers and possession of a weapon by a convicted felon.

The indictment details that on Nov. 26, 2014 Hibbler eluded authorities by failing to stop for marked emergency vehicles.

According to investigators, Hibbler is also facing a child abuse charge, stemming from the felony eluding matter when he wrecked the vehicle, he allegedly fled on foot leaving his step-son in the vehicle.

The same day, Hibbler was allegedly found in possession of a firearm, a Smith & Wesson .9mm handgun.

Hibbler has a July 2004 felony conviction of sexual battery out of Lamar County, that resulted in him being listed as a sex offender.
