May 27 forecast- Another stormy day

May 27 forecast- Another stormy day

Thunderstorms are pushing northeastward across the Pine Belt this afternoon, bringing frequent lightning and gusty winds along with locally heavy downpours. Stay indoors until the storms pass and use extra caution if you have to be out on the road!

A Severe Thunderstorm Watch has been issued for Forrest, Lamar, Jones, Marion, Jefferson Davis, Covington, Simpson, Clarke, Jasper, Lawrence, and Smith counties until 7 p.m. Although tornadoes can never be completely ruled out, atmospheric conditions make rotation unlikely. The tornado threat is low but will be monitored closely.

These storms will move out of the area by this evening, leaving cloudy and mild conditions in their wake.

Another warm and humid day is forecast for Thursday with a good chance for mainly afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms. Expect highs in the mid/upper 80s.

Good news! The weekend looks warmer and drier.
