New toys challenge traditional doll look

UNITED KINGDOM - Parents who have children with disabilities were having trouble finding dolls their kids could relate to, so they decided to make it themselves.

Toy Like Me features dolls with cochlear implants, cleft palate, prosthetic legs, and birth marks.

According to the campaign's Facebook page, parents are hoping their new dolls will encourage the Toy Industry to better represent children with special needs in their products.

The campaign has also started a petition to have major toy manufacturers such as Playmobil, Lego, Mattel, and Hasbro adopt the toy line.
