May 24 forecast-Stormy remainder of the holiday weekend

Showers and storms are heading northward across the Pine Belt this afternoon and will continue to do so through the evening. Stronger storms have been spotted, bringing heavy downpours, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.

A Tornado Watch is in effect for Simpson, Jefferson Davis, Lawrence, Walthall, Marion, Lamar, Pearl River, Harrison, Hancock, and Jackson counties until 8 p.m. Remember to have a plan in place in case a warning is issued. And if thunder roars, go indoors!

Thunderstorms are possible through the overnight hours but rain chances increase by Monday morning. Your Memorial Day is going to be a stormy one so you'll want to move any activities indoors. The chance for rain should decrease slightly after sunset. Expect highs to reach the mid 80s.

Monday will kick off a stormy, wet pattern that will last through at least the first half of the week. Highs will remain in the mid/upper 80s.
