LAMAR COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - The Lamar County Board of Supervisors honored a group of Sumrall hunters Thursday who won its own reality show, "Real South Hunting."
"Real South Hunting" was selected through the public's votes this spring and received a proclamation from the board for representing the county on national television.
"We're glad to have support from all of the people around us," Brook Sanders said, a Sumrall hunter and member of the show.
The group recently began filming, and Sanders said the show is set to air on Pursuit Channel in 2016.
"Our dream from little kids was to be on TV, and doing what we love (like) hunting and fishing and being able to share it with everybody in the world," Anthony Bourne said, who is a also a hunter from Sumrall and a member of the show.
The group produced its own sample series for the contest, which was ultimately selected as the winning show out of six competitors.
"We've had a lot of fun," Dan Lucas said, hunter and member of 'Real South Hunting.'" "We've worked hard (and) spent a lot of time in the woods, but for the most part, we've just had fun."
