JONES COUNTY, MS (WDAM) - A local pawn shop tipped off Jones County Sheriff's investigators to a suspicion of stolen property Tuesday.
The Laurel Police Department apprehended Billy Lester, 26, of Laurel, in connection with the recent burglary of ROC Fellowship Church on Indian Springs Road in Laurel.
Items taken from the church were a keyboard, sound equipment, a computer, guitars and money. Throughout the investigation and interviewing process, Jim Edmond, 24, of Laurel, was also identified as part of the burglary.
Officials determined that Edmond was also involved in the burglary of a resident on Rose Lane. He was alleged to have taken a flat screen TV, guns and money. Authorities believed the two men were responsible for other burglaries in the area as well. Edmond was charged with burglary of breaking and entering of a dwelling and commercial burglary. His bond is set at $20,000.
Lester was charged with receiving stolen property-felony with his bond set at $10,000.
Mississippi Department of Corrections placed a hold on Edmond and Lester for possible parole violation. Both men remain housed at the Jones County Jail and the case is still under investigation.
