HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - The following is a news release from The University of Southern Mississippi
In celebration of June as National Homeownership Month, a free housing information session will be held Saturday, June 13, from 5 until 6 p.m. at the Andrew Jackson Conference Room of the Warren Hood Building at 200 South President Street in Jackson.
The University of Southern Mississippi Institute for Disability Studies' Home of Your Own (HOYO) program in partnership with the City of Jackson HOME Investment Partnership Program will host the event.
"Information will be provided on the city grant that has up to $25,000 available for homeownership to any eligible borrower based upon the need for down payment, gap financing and closing costs," said Cassie Hicks, assistant director of housing at the Institute for Disability Studies. This free event is open to the public.
"June is National Homeownership Month," said Hicks. "National studies show in most areas it's cheaper to own than rent, and this month is a good time to focus on buying."
