HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - Lt. Gov. Tate Reeves has praised the Hattiesburg-area for its unity in the wake of the shooting deaths of two Hattiesburg police officers earlier this month.
Tuesday, Reeves was the featured speaker during a meeting of Forrest-Lamar Republican Women in Oak Grove.
Reeves said the Hattiesburg community showed the nation and the world that it appreciates and stands behind local law officers.
Hattiesburg police officers Benjamin Deen and Liquori Tate were shot to death during a routine traffic stop in East Hattiesburg on May 9.
Thousands of people lined the streets carrying American flags and signs showing their support of law enforcement during two separate funeral processions for the fallen officers last week.
