SMRHI observes National Women's Health Week

HATTIESBURG, MS (WDAM) - An organization which works to improve the health of rural South Mississippi residents is focusing attention this week on women's health issues.

South Mississippi Rural Health Initiative, Inc. observed National Women's Health Week Wednesday with a day of free screenings at its Women's Health Center on Old Airport Road.

They included tests for body mass index, glucose, cholesterol, hemoglobin and HIV.

During the event, Johniece Dupree, wife of Hattiesburg Mayor Johnny Dupree, presented a proclamation from the mayor declaring May 11-15 as National Women's Health Week in the City of Hattiesburg.
