Two Pine Belt Subways giving free meals to law enforcement

SANDERSVILLE, MS (WDAM) - This week from Monday – Sunday two Subway locations in Jones County are giving away free food to all law enforcement officers.

"This is a result of some misguided comments that were made on social media and the resulting backlash it had on Subway as a whole," said Owner/Operator Tony Wheat. In order to counter some of that and just to show people that we support our law enforcement officers we're giving them free meals anytime they come in throughout the week."

Wheat owns and operates two locations, one inside South Central Regional Medical Center in Laurel and the other in Sandersville. He said a comment that was made online by a Subway employee after two Hattiesburg officers were shot and killed Saturday is not allowed.

"Subway doesn't condone that in any way and nor would we ever tolerate it," said Wheat.

Wheat said Subway supports their law enforcement officers. He invites all law enforcement officers to visit either of his two locations and enjoy a free meal.

This week Subway in Ellisville also showed their support for law enforcement by donating food to the Ellisville Police Department.
