LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - Many Laurel citizens and local leaders commemorated the annual Day of Prayer Thursday.
Residents gathered outside the steps of the Jones County Court House to take the time out to pray and thank God for their freedom.
Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee also took the time to present a proclamation and declare May 7 as Day of Prayer for the city.
"We take this time out to seek God, we should do it every day, but this is just a special occasion to do it where we can all come together and seek the guidance from God," said Mayor Magee.
The observance day is held every year on the first Thursday of May.
