LAUREL, MS (WDAM) - St. John's Day School Pack 23 Cub Scouts of America learned the importance of water Wednesday.
The cub scouts visited United Water's production facility and learned where their water comes from.
The second grader's want to earn their conservation badge, but in order to do so they must learn to conserve water.
"It's important for them to get that to be good citizens and to understand how the community works and where their water comes from and how much effort it takes for all these things that most people take for granted to happen," said Pastor Jeff Reich.
The cub scouts learned that by turning of the tap while they brush their teeth they can save up to 8 gallons of water, which adds up to more than 200 gallons a month.
